I looked forward to this day for a year and a half.

And it did not disappoint.

These incredible women are honestly two of the absolute best people that I know.   Jessica works at Pearls for Teen Girls, and Dana is an educational assistant for 2nd graders at Milwaukee College Prep School.  She’s also a Corps Member at City Year.  Between their jobs, time spent volunteering, and their involvement in the LGBTQ+ community, their lives basically revolve around helping other people.

So it’s no wonder that their day was full of people who love them to pieces.

I’m not sure if there was a dry eye in the house when they said their vows.  I cried for sure.  Because their love is awesome.  I don’t know how anyone could look at a couple like this, and think anything is wrong with their relationship .  Or want anything for them besides the love they have for each other.  I know that everyone has their beliefs, and to each their own, but good people loving good people? That’s something to believe in.

Okay, I’m off my soap box.  Back to this day.  This cold, rainy, hard-to-believe-it-was-the-end-of-May day.  From the beginning of the day, it was full of love.  And laughter.  And friends.  The vibe in the hotel room was so relaxed as Jess & Dana got ready, together, with their nearest and dearest.

And then we got to the venue, and I was blown away.  I had glimpses here and there of all the things they were working on (which was a lot.  This wedding was a serious labor of love by the beautiful couple and their friends), but nothing could have prepared me for how amazing everything looked in the space.  The literary-with-a-hint-of-nerd theme was perfect for them.

The ceremony was genuine and happy, and all of the things that a joining of two lives should be.  With a touch of humor.  And then there was dancing.  So much dancing.

And when I was done working, I danced too.  Because who wouldn’t want to celebrate this:

Jess & Dana, thank you so much for asking me to be a part of this day, both behind the lens and as a friend.  You are amazing humans and I couldn’t be happier for you. ❤
